The story behind Kastel Gomilica is an intriguing one. As you may know, the history of Croatia is characterised by (attempted) occupations. As an answer to this, seven castles have been built (therefore the name Kastel). These seven castles became settlements, of which Kastel Gomilica is one. Unfortunately, it has become almost a suburb of the near town Split, but luckily it is still as beautiful as it was.

Split can be easily reached by boat from Kastel Gomilica. Also, a sailing trip along the coastline is definitely recommended, in that way you will see the other castles as well. Furthermore, there are two impressive islands close: the island Brac and the island Hvar. Hvar has become a very popular holiday destination, and Brac is becoming more and more popular. Both are ideal destinations for a sailing trip!
